Description: BOOM Ave. is a multi-effects bass pedal. Yeah, for BASS! All about that bass! We know sometimes you would feel ignored by the other band members. But hey, at Sonicake, we always believe that bassists are way more crucial than those egomaniac guitarists. True story!
BOOM Ave. gives you 4 essentials for bass playing: a BOOST/COMP, a FUZZ, a PREAMP, and an OCTAVE.
BOOST/COMP is as straightforward as it is. It comes with a volume boost and a compressor. FUZZ is pretty standard. Think about Russian Muff with some additional EQ twist. PREAMP is a classic. We try to pay our tribute to the legendary Ampeg style tone. OCTAVE is dual sub octave. But you can blend the ratio of the original dry signal and the octaves.
It has an FX LOOP after preamp section. You can add whatever you wanna add in that loop.
It also has an XLR OUT for you to send the balanced signal to your sound card or PA mixer.
First of all, as Sonicake rightly remarks, finally someone is also taking care of us bass players! Thanks guys!!
I believe that only the simulation of excellent amps is worth the extremely advantageous price of the object, since it is able to actually produce a balanced and round sound, also allowing to intervene on the equalization effectively, significantly approaching the Ampeg sounds.
- the compressor / boost is as simple as it is effective: one knob to adjust the volume increase, the other to adjust the compression. The latter in particular is very effective for piercing the mix while playing, giving satisfactory results both on fingerstyle and with picking.
- The fuzz has three knobs: volume, sustain and tone. It's rotten, very sharp, just like we want it! Switch from dirtying and slightly swelling the sound until it becomes a wave of stinging slime. Added to the preamp it creates a very nice distortion. Promoted!
- the octaver finally has the three typical settings, Dry, oct 1 and oct 2. It allows you to act independently on the mix of original sound, 1 octave below and 2 octaves below. Here too, simple, effective. Convincing digital sound, no delay.
Having it on your hands is a pleasure! Made entirely of metal, from an idea of solidity and excellent "fullness". It is extremely robust, conveys quality from the first glance. Another positive note, the switches are of excellent quality: very sprung and fluid.
Input jack signal, 2 output signals: 1 jack and 1 balanced cannon to enter directly into the mixer; send and return inputs for effects, 9V power supply (great! Like most pedals). There is everything, and it works great.
Pro: All! It's durable, it's perfectly silent, it's extremely comfortable, it's excellent on its own or combined with other pedals, the amp simulation is excellent, the effects are convincing, it's absolutely complete, it runs on 9V, and IT ONLY COSTS AROUND 100 EURO!!
Good job Sonicake, you did a masterpiece!
Been great... just a tiny flaw in the octave... it fail to sustain. Everything else is great. Specially the preamp.
Best bass pedal out there. No fancy modelling that makes your amp screech. I think for a bassist this is all you would ever need. Love it!
...shipped fast USPS...works great for both bass and guitar...i live in the caribbean and the weather is harsh on pedals....we'll see.....
It brings life to my sound im still playing around with the different sections but love it
I like it. If you are just starting out to build a bass effects chain Boom Ave will get you way down that road. I use the compressor quite a bit. I use the EQ (i.e. preamp) for playing with a pick (in addition to the compressor), the octaver makes some cool sounds (especially the Octave 1 mixed with the Dry), and I've used the Fuzz here and there. And if you need a DI then the Boom Ave is a no-brainer for that alone. The EQ does add a little white noise if the gain and the treble controls are turned up though it's minor and has never stopped me from using it.
Does the Boom Ave match a chain of individual high-end single-purpose pedals? Maybe not exactly though some of its features are as good those on much more expensive pedals. But if you had just the Boom Ave you wouldn't be in any hurry to replace any of the effects. And don't forget that it's easy to find for under $99.
You could easily use the Boom Ave as your only pedal on a gig and if you were completely DI-ing it'd be the only thing you need besides your bass. The only other pedal I occasionally add to my chain is a chorus and I go for long periods without that.
this effect pedal is fantastic, high quality build and stellar sound!
absolutely love the pre amp/eq and the compressor to give the deep bass i'm looking for.
highly recommend this to all bass players!
I bought one as my stage pedal. The Octaver is awesome with its ability to blend one up and one down. Latency is fantastic! The EQ is very good, Still would like a low end boost added. The distortion is PHAT! Love it!
Great features at a good price.
Nice range of tones and effects.
