How To Fix "Updating/Restoring in Progress" Stuck

We've recently received multiple reports of devices getting stuck on the "updating/restoring in progress please don't shut down" screen. Our R&D team has investigated and traced the issue to recent Windows 11 updates, especially KB5077181, which introduced changes to the MIDI system that can interrupt communication with our software.

We are actively working with Microsoft to release a permanent fix. In the meantime, here's a temporary solution that should restore your device.

Temporary Fix: Uninstall Update KB5077181

You'll need to start Windows in Safe Mode, then run a simple command.

Step 1: Enter Safe Mode
Choose one of these methods:

Via Settings
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security (or System > Recovery in newer Windows).
Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
When the options appear, press 4 or F4 to choose Safe Mode.

Via Shift + Restart
Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
While holding Shift, click Restart from the Start menu or login screen.
Follow the same steps as above to reach Safe Mode.

Step 2: Uninstall Update KB5077181
Once in Safe Mode, open Command Prompt (search for it in Start, right‑click, and select Run as administrator).
Type (or write down) this command and press Enter:
wusa /uninstall /kb:5077181
Follow the on‑screen instructions to finish the uninstall.
Restart your computer normally.

⚠️Please note: In Safe Mode, copy and paste may not work properly. We recommend writing down the command in advance.

Alternative Workaround: Try Using a Mac Computer

If you don't have KB5077181 installed but are still experiencing the issue, other Windows 11 updates might be the cause. As a temporary workaround, you can try connecting your device to a Mac computer, our software is fully compatible and can help confirm whether the problem is Windows‑related.
