Budget Pedal Chap
Budget Pedal Chap is a British content creator focusing on affordable guitar gear. His long-running No Talk All Tone series over on YouTube makes the pedal the star of the show and pushes aside the usual word-laden reviews for pure and simple guitar tone. ‘Budge’ has featured a fair few Sonicake products on his channel so far including Digital Reverb, SonicIR, Levitate, Warped Dimenson, Matribox and more.
He is quite the busy boy when it comes to guitar content creation, having been the long running host of the Fret Talk Podcast for almost a decade. Over this time, he has had the great fortune of talking with some of the industry giants like Adrian Thorpe (ThorpyFX), Alex Miller (Zander Circuitry), Stuart Tate (Tate FX), Joe Halliday (Hello Sailor Effects), Simon Andrews (JSA Effects) and Joe Cozzi (Eventide) as well as chatting with some amazing people in the content creation side of the industry including Joe Branton (Guitar Nerds) and Lance 'Mike' Milton (CGS).
Expanding from the podcast, he began content creation on Instagram and YouTube as a way of highlighting the amazing options in the budget space. Within a short time, he noticed that most guitar pedal demos were full of people talking about how great the pedals were instead of letting the pedal be the star of the show. From this, the No Talk, All Tone series was born and, in that time, it has featured hundreds of pedals in this same format. The No Talk, All Tone series lets the pedal do the talking and, although there are written notes that show on screen, the pedal very much takes centre stage. As the popularity of the NTAT series began to grow, it then further expanded to NTAT Vs (where 2 or more pedals face-off against each other) and the Board on a Budget series (where a handful of budget pedals team up to recreate some iconic artist tones).
Recently, Budge realised that sometimes short YouTube videos can't say everything that needs to be said about the guitar pedals featured. From this, the Budget Pedal Chap blog was created. For those as passionate about budget pedals as Budge himself, you can find even more information on the pedals and some personal experience and anecdotes too.
Budge is, of course, a passionate user of Sonicake products. He says his favourite Sonicake pedal is the Levitate, and in his words “The Levitate offers so much for the money, it’s incredible! It gives you an entire ambience section in one pedal, which is great if you want to take up less space on your pedalboard. It features a lush and expansive reverb tone and a no-nonsense delay tone with a tap tempo. I’m calling it here and now: The Levitate will be a future budget classic”
