Works great ! No batteries or string like Ernie ball.
This pedal is really well made from heavy mild steel to the degree that it seems you could park the band's van on it without causing much in the way of damage.
It has two modes of operation - volume and as an effects (expression) pedal when used with other Sonicake products.
In volume mode it works quite simply: it is an analogue potentiometer which you insert into the signal chain between guitar and amplifier using standard jack-jack cable. It works well, but in my opinion is of limited value unless for some reason you cannot reach the volume control on your instrument. In 'expression' mode you must hook the pedal up to a suitable Sonicake FX unit with a TRS cable (Tip Ring and Shield). It then controls the level of effect you wish to apply. I have no Sonicake kit and so cannot test this, but the principle is easy enough to discuss.
In conclusion - sturdy enough for heavy duty stage use if the usage parameters suit your needs.

I really like this volume pedal, but it feels a bit on the stiff side.
The pedal arrived as pictured in fairly plain packaging. It feels quite well made, but ultimately it is a fairly simple bit of kit. No batteries are required as it's essentially an analogue switch!
So far it has worked as expected, but I've found the movement a bit stiff a times. It seems lubricated but it may need a bit more.
Overall, it's a decently well-made volume pedal. It's not going to change your sound much, but it can make it quicker and easier to manage the sound output.
This pedal is very well made and feels solidly built. The size makes it easy to use and the weighted feel of the pressure you need to apply to control the pedal is spot on. The grippy material of the pedal eliminates the risk of you foot slipping and accidentally changing the position you have the pedal set to. It's great that it doesn't require batteries or an external power supply. A solid, well made pedal that's simply to use and does the job.
